What can you find from the Dumpster Diva?

A little bit of everything. Mostly funky things to give your house or garden space some flair. My hope is to inspire you to find ways to repurpose old items and give you the opportunity to buy what I've found and repurposed if something appeals to you.

The rustier, the better.

I’ve got a lust for rust and I’m drawn to things with a story. I find all kinds of things that can be turned into something beautiful. One of my favorite discoveries is an old Frank Stallman theatrical trunk. I found it at an estate sale in someone’s garage. It looked lonely sitting in an abandoned corner of the garage, filled with dirt and broken clay pots. I took it home, gave it some TLC and it now serves as my entertainment center hub. It's cool and has become a great conversation piece. I like to imagine that it used to live backstage on Broadway, holding the costume changes for Ginger Rogers or Fred Astaire.

Funky, Fabulous Finds

Here's my latest find. It's a great, curved desk. It was dirty and in need of some cleaning up and some TLC. But, wow! Even at it's dirtiest, I still think it's a beautiful piece of furniture. All drawers locked at one point in time.
Voila! I finished this piece and feel really good about how it turned out! I painted it light blue with an antique finish.

Old-School Dearborn Heater

Here's an old heater with a ceramic grill that I found at an estate sale. I loved it so much, that despite my husband's raised eyebrows and "What the heck is that thing?" look, I had to take it home. It recently found a good home - YAY!
